THE SEARCH PARTY

Cassette

Paul Streckfus, Malcolm Hamilton and Lauren Robertson
explore the possibilities, and set sail afloat a sea of milk white snow.
Search Party have a 79 – 81 post-punk feel.
This tape is more ambient though without the human-element interruption of voices or singing.
Recorded Aug., Sep., and Nov. ’97

The Search Party formed inspired by the music of Brian Eno, Kraftwerk, The Fall, Neu!, Can, Throbbing Gristle, Leather Nun, and Suicide.

First show was Nov. 18, 1997 at Bates Motel, Austin TX.

They played a few shows in Austin with Lauren on drums, recorded an EP at Sweatbox, and then Lauren moved away to D.C. Sarah Carlson, then of Rock Hudsons, took over drums and they played at 33 Degrees for an anti-SXSW gig in 1998. Hey! Lee Ranaldo was there and said it was really cool!

After Search Party ended its run in Austin, Paul and Lauren played two shows in Washington D.C. under the Search Party name, before breaking up for good. Some final mixing of Sweat Box recordings were mixed down in Providence, RI by Ernest Salaz but those final mixes had phasing problems and so they were never released. John Croslin recorded a few songs on the east side, and those were not released either.

Lauren went on to play in The Long Goodbye, Thunder Claw, and Ascended Master in San Francisco.

Paul went on to play in Kingdom Of Suicide Lovers.

Malcom  went on to  record and performs in NYC and San Francisco.
